Superman streaks across the Metropolis skyline, standing in for New York and its twin towers, during the climactic nighttime battle with General Zod and his fellow Kryptonians.
Trivia: Metropolis was played by New York City itself, with landmarks including the World Trade Center, the Chrysler Building, and the Brooklyn Bridge left unhidden throughout the Christopher Reeve Superman films.
Later in the film, Superman is again glimpsed flying past the same twin-towers-anchored Metropolis skyline as the city returns to normal following Zod's defeat.
